Womansong Covid Guidelines - effective 8/12/2022
Womansong has developed these guidelines to keep our rehearsals as free from Covid as possible, They are based on CDC recommendations, along with state and local mandates and practices of other choirs. We will update our guidelines throughout the year as public health advice changes.
In the spirit of respecting and caring for one another, the Wise Woman Council has decided to require everyone who attends live rehearsals -- including members and visitors -- to sign this document, indicating your willingness to follow the guidelines.
Attendance & Rehearsal Protocols
Case Reporting
The following practices will enable Womansong to respond quickly to any potential Covid transmission at rehearsal.
You must consent to sharing your Covid status to allow contact tracing.
If you experience Covid-like symptoms after attending a rehearsal, tell our Medical Liaison (Linda Newman staywell@aol.com) immediately. Get tested ASAP and report your test results to Linda. If you test positive, let her know when your symptoms began.
If you test positive, the CDC says to quarantine for 5 days after your symptoms began -- or longer than 5 days, if you still have fever or other symptoms. Wait at least 10 days from the onset of your symptoms before returning to rehearsal.
If you test negative, you may return to rehearsal the next week.
If you have close contact with someone who has Covid, stay away from rehearsal even if you have no symptoms. The CDC recommends getting tested within 5-7 days to be sure you haven’t caught the virus. If you’re not able to get tested, stay away from rehearsal for 10 days.
Informing the Choir
When a singer reports Covid-like symptoms or a positive test, the Medical Liaison will notify all performing members so they can make their own risk assessment about whether to attend rehearsal. In addition the Medical Liaison will recommend that women who sat near the ill member monitor themselves for symptoms and/or get tested.
The Medical Liaison will also let performing members know when a singer tests negative after reporting symptoms, so other members can breathe a sigh of relief.
Summary: When must members report to the Medical Liaison?
If you experience Covid-like symptoms after attending a rehearsal, tell the Medical Liaison immediately. Get tested ASAP and report your test results.
If you have close contact with someone who has Covid, try to get tested within 5-7 days and report your test results. (If you’re not able to get tested, stay away from rehearsal for 10 days.)
Despite our best efforts, there is no way to completely eliminate the risk of Covid exposure.
Members and visitors should evaluate their own health status and decide whether they are comfortable with the level of risk inherent in attending in-person rehearsals.
I understand Womansong’s Covid guidelines and will follow them.

Attendance & Rehearsal Protocols
- Everyone attending live rehearsals must be fully vaccinated against Covid, with all shots for the primary series (initial 2 doses) per current CDC recommendations and Buncombe County. Boosters are highly recommended. By signing this form, you are certifying that you are fully vaccinated.
- DO NOT attend rehearsal if you have possible Covid symptoms, including cold symptoms, fever, loss of smell, etc.
- In addition, DO NOT attend rehearsal if you have recently been in contact with anyone who may have Covid, including people who have tested positive for Covid and anyone with Covid-like symptoms.
- Until further notice, we will wear masks while singing. In addition, we will remain masked at all times while in the building, except when eating or drinking. Your mask must fit tightly and cover your nose and mouth.
- Singers must bring their own personal supplies – music, pencil and highlighter, water bottle, etc.— and take these items home at the end of rehearsal.
- We will live-stream rehearsals so members can participate virtually when they’re not able to attend in person.
