Spring 2022:

Music in the Air

Friday, May 20 - 7:30pm

Saturday, May 21 - 3pm

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville
One Edwin Place
Asheville NC  28801
Womansong, Asheville’s longest-running women’s community chorus, invites you to our spring concert, “Music in the Air,”
at the
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville, One Edwin Place, Asheville 28801

After two years of weathering the Covid storm, Womansong is rising up to share our songs in our spring concert, “Music In The Air.”   The concert features uplifting music to share our gratitude, grief, healing and joy after two-plus years with no performances. It features brand new songs by our  own Lytingale and Martha Burrows, favorites by Holly Near, and inspiring pieces written during the pandemic. From choral anthems to contemporary pop tunes, there’s something for everyone -- music to make you laugh, cry, and dance. We’ll even have some “sign-alongs.” (No, that’s not a typo!)

Co-directors
Sarah Rubin and Martha Burrows  are thrilled that two former Womansong directors,   Althea Gonzalez  and   Debbie Nordeen, will join them as guest conductors.

Lytingale, Georgia Pressman, Jane Snyder will accompany the choir on piano, flute, and a variety of percussion instruments.   And  for this concert, we welcome 5 new singers to our village. (Come   sing with us  next fall!)

Womansong celebrates the unity, diversity, and empowerment of women through musical expression, as we sing for Joy, social justice, and community. Our concerts help fund the operation of our nonprofit organization including the choir’s   New Start Program, which provides scholarships and emergency funds to local women in need.
Womansong concerts are accessible to the hearing impaired through music sign language interpretation by  Shiner Antiorio.
