Our 2014 Concerts
In June 2014, Womansong performed the "She Sings" concert at Warren Wilson College, with guests Indigo Blue and Firefly.
In late July, Womansong performed at the Sister Singers Network Festival in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, where they sang and celebrated with 19 other women’s choruses from across the United States.
On September 19, Womansong sang at Serenity in the Smokies, and on September 28, at the Deerfield retirement community.
Our November 2014 concert featured the title song “Light the Lamp,” a beautiful choral piece for women’s voices penned by Asheville composer Catherine Haas Riley.
Other selections on this theme of light included Katy Perry’s “Firework,” a rousing rendition of the traditional gospel tune “This Little Light of Mine,” and “Where There Is Light in the Soul,” based on a well-known Chinese proverb. The concert included Womansong’s light-hearted take on another composition written by member Sue Gladstone, “Why Not Now?” which urges us all to live in the present moment.
Womansong enjoys supporting local songwriters by sharing their works with Asheville’s enthusiastic audiences. “Strength and Unity,” written by William Stanhope of Asheville, was an arrangement debuted at this concert.
